The first meal we’re going to prepare is a personal favourite of mine, my mother’s toad-in-the-hole.
This can serve up to six people, but I find that without any additional veg or potatoes, it’s a good solid meal for four people.
You can mix it up a bit and use beef or veggie sausages instead of pork, if you fancy it.
Approximate cost: £5

Ingredients you will need:
Pre-heat the oven to around 200°/gas mark 6
Place the baking tin inside to warm through.
If all goes to plan, it should rise, so make sure you leave space above it in the oven!
RESIST TEMPTATION TO OPEN THE OVEN.
When the toad-in-the-hole has nearly cooked, prepare your gravy. In true student style, I favour Bisto. If you’re cooking any veg to accompany it, wait until about ten minutes before the dish is ready to come out of the oven.
